Why the long way?

Because, sometimes we don’t know what we want until we’ve lived a little while.

Because longevity is a marathon, not a sprint.

Because, when you only go by airplane, you miss the way pinelands morph into sandhills as they fall to the coast, the way ridges step up into mountains, the way plains yield to canyons, the distinct color of blue created when a glacier melts into a lake.

Because the journey matters.

Julia Child did not publish her masterpiece, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” until she was almost 50 years old.

I’ve still got time.
